Which other bands ...I find it interesting when a group of people on a forum agree on one band (Diamond Head), how different (or how similar) their other musical interests can be.
Which other bands and music is everyone here into?
I'm into such a variety of music to the point of being ridiculous. It's almost impossible to even do a Reader's Digest condensed version of my musical interests.
For now I'll say my all time favorite band is Queen. I've been a huge Queen fan since about 1974. (Seriously.)
As far as my "heavy rock" tastes go, generally I'm into what's referred to as "classic rock", mainly the 70's, and 80's metal and hard rock. My own impression is I tend to favor more British bands but in actuality my music "collection" is probably about 50/50 as far as British and American (including Canadian) bands, plus the odd bands from other places (ya know like Scorpions, Rammstein, Midnight Oil, Hanoi Rocks and I KNOW I'm leaving out others not jumping off the top of my head).
I'm definitely into many more "flavors" of rock and pop than just the "heavy" stuff but I'm trying to keep this short here for now!
Oh, and yes I dig Metallica's old stuff (which is how I discovered ...) and I like Megadeth pretty well too, both the old and new albums.
Also I've noticed I seem to be into at least 95% of the bands and artists I've read and heard the guys in Diamond Head name check.

Well I'm mostly into classic rock and NWOBHM bands. These are a list of my fav bands:-
Budgie
Rush
Zep
Sabbath
AC/DC
Floyd
UFO
Hawkwind
Scorpions
Krokus
Deep Purple
All the above bands I've seen apart from Zep and Deep Purple, although I did see Robert Plant last October at Glasgow Barrowlands and I've seen Gillan a few times himself, but I've got tickets to see Deep Purple at the Clyde Auditorium in May next year - with the 2 support bands being Thin Lizzy and Styx - AWESOME!!!
Fav nwobhm bands would be:-
DIAMOND HEAD (no surprises there then hehe)
Angel Witch
Blitzkrieg
Saxon
Girlschool
Praying Mantis
Tank
Tygers of Pan Tang
Samson
Witchfynde
Raven
Trespass
And I've seen every one of them as well - all of them at least twice.
Just saw Saxon a few months back at the Renfrew Ferry with Blitzkrieg supporting them and it was absolutely magnificent.
Not really into many new bands - I do like Wolfmother and they're playing here in a couple of weeks, its sold out and I've not got a ticket but I might just try and get one at the door or in the pub beforehand.
I really like an Irish band called The Answer, seen them 3 times before, the last time just last week at King Tuts - they were brilliant and very Zeppy, so canny wait to see them again.

Wow, you’ve got a lot of great bands listed, Diamondheadgirl!
Ah yes, Deep Purple! The first time I ever heard the Machine Head album (around 1974; I know it came out in ’72 but I didn’t hear the whole album until ... listening to someone’s older brother’s copy of the album ...) it totally blew me away.
That Deep Purple/Thin Lizzy/Styx show sounds awesome! I’d like to see the current lineup of Thin Lizzy to see John Sykes play. The few times they’ve been on this side of the pond it was just a few dates way too far away from where I live. (I’m in Florida and they only played in the northeast like New York/New Jersey and maybe on the west coast in California as well.) Styx is another all time favorite rock band of mine I’ve been into since I was about 12. I’ve seen them five times, three of which I can safely say were “back in the day” with the “classic” lineup (DDY, JY, Shaw, Panozzo bros.).
Relatively, I haven’t been to all that many live shows/concerts in my life, various reasons. I did manage to see the one important one, QUEEN in 1980. I mean I could have never seen another concert in my life and been happy because I did get to see Queen. If I go to 1-2 major (i.e. not local acts) shows in a year, that’s a BIG DEAL to me!
LOL! Oh, the current lead singer of AC/DC lives not too far away from me, down in Sarasota! Whenever I see a local musical benefit type thing that says there’s going to be a “member from AC/DC”, that’s who it is!
Pink Floyd is another band I got into early on, around 13/14. Mainly their 70’s albums.
I got a little bit “lost” musically around 1979/early 80’s. I’m almost embarrassed (no I’m not; actually I’m very open about all the music I’m into but just not gonna go there right now) to say here what I got into. Then into the early to mid-‘90’s I guess I was trying to be all hip and be into all this “alternative” stuff, some of which actually I still do like. Part of me was not wanting to be the old f*rt who can’t get into new music but then I realized, hey, the rock music I really love is classic rock and old school metal and there’s nothing wrong with that and that’s ok.
I really should have been into NWOBHM back in the day. I’d heard of plenty of the bands but somehow didn’t actually get exposed to the music or maybe it was where I was living and who I was hanging out with, people not into that music or who had a clue about it. Over the past 5 years or so I’ve been getting into all this music that somehow I passed by the first time around. In a way I kind of feel like these kids who are discovering the music for the first time, even though I’m old enough that I should have been in the thick of it!
I recently got my hands on a really nice copy of Angel Witch’s first album on vinyl. Also some old Tygers of Pan Tang albums. Girlschool I did discover “back in the day” and still have two of their albums on vinyl.
Saxon is another band I’ve been wanting to check out lately. As usual for me it’s, so many albums ... so little time ...

Ok, that's a good one to have if you're only going to have on L.A. Guns album IMO.
I saw the guitar player (Tracii Guns) last April playing in a band he put together (or back together as the case seems to be) this year. That whole situation is a real MESS and I'm not going to go there here!
I have to say, when Tracii is ON (playing geetar) the guy is ON!
LOL he also ended up being the first at least halfway famous rock musician I've ever met in person! (after how many years of being into rock and roll?) I just nicely asked him to sign a CD for me and he was very cool about it.
Interestingly just about a month later I happened to go see the current lineup of L.A. Guns also.
Both bands played songs from Cocked and Loaded.
(Hey, just noticed, this board doesn't censor "Cocked and Loaded" like some forums do )
