To The Devil His Due DVDBoy, am I one happy camper tonight!
The "To The Devil His Due" DVD finally arrived in my snail mail box after much very impatient waiting and anticipation.
It took a little doing but I finally got the DVD to play and not where I was expecting it to work at all!
See, I'm in the U.S.A., sunny Florida which in DVD terms means Region 1 and NTSC. The DVD arrived with a huge sticker plastered on it explaining it's Region 2 DVD blah blah blah. So no way is it working with my TV and DVD player and I didn't even try. I already had some ideas about playing it on my laptop computer ... but that ended up not working out ... Not to panic ... YET.
In the meantime I noticed the DVD is actually Region 0. Ok, that solves that problem, there's still the issue of PAL, I'm thinking.
Not to get off on a tangent and get all computer geeky but I recently "rebuilt" a desktop computer from a bunch of old "parts" from various sources. Really it suits my purposes just fine except for one thing - most streaming video from the Internet plays a bit wonky and even though the tower had a DVD ROM player, DVD's don't play very well on this system. I suspect it's a CPU issue ... I won't got there ... I did install my Intervideo Win DVD software only to discover ... forget it. Although I could get Windows Media Player to play DVD's ... sort of ...
Figuring I had nothing to lose since I already have a lovely CD RW drive I use for all my CD needs, I stuck To The Devil His Due into the DVD ROM drive, opened up Windows Media Player and ... SUCCESS!!! I don't know why but it plays wonderfully on a system I had the impression DVD's didn't seem to agree with.
So I pulled a comfy chair up to my computer desk and ... ENJOYED! Yes, great DVD, great show. The studio footage and the interviews were really cool too. Once again I'm thinking the 17" monitor is the best $5.00 I spent this summer!
Now I know what I'm going to be watching every night for the rest of the week and for awhile!

Hey Hi Fi I live in Italy and thought maybe I would have some weird problem like this too...however, for me the DVD worked first time! Yeah!
I think the Interviews on it are the best bit and the studio footage, being a guitarist it's great those behind-the-scenes bits.
Lets hope they record another DVD soon with maybe some other cool songs live on it like Ishmael and Truckin'....

I have to add ...
I just love this current lineup of Diamond Head! They play so well together and there seems to be a real cohesiveness to the band. Then separately they're each all so good at what they do. I see no "weak links" at all in the band. The other cool thing I noticed is they all seem to be having a really good time playing together, having fun. That goes a pretty long way for me in a live performance.
Lloyd! Since you know guitars, what kind of guitar is Adrian Mills playing in the video? It strikes me as looking like a black Gibson Les Paul? Even though I don't play I have this thing for Gibson guitars so I notice when people are using them.

As for the Guitars, they are all genuine Gibsons. Can't beat a Gibson for sound! Even the Epiphone copies that cost you around €250 are great!!!
Gibsons are like wine though, you have to pick a good year!
Although saying all this I play Jacksons and Washburns and Fender acoustics! However, if one day I come into the money, I am down the guitar shop for my Gibson...you ever seen that scene in Waynes World with the sign "No stairway to heaven" thats me every week trying out the Gibsons!

The current line-up is awesome. I've been lucky enough to meet them and they all seemed to get along really well together, which hopfully means that there will be lots of classic albums to come.
With a little note on the DVD. It's a same that there is no footage from the last tours (apart from my mate Jack's short bootleg!). As I felt that Nick has really grown in confidence since the Astoria gig and is a much better frontman now, and he was pretty awesome before!

Wow, just from watching the DVD it seems Nick is doing an awesome job and you say he’s grown even more since then, Sleeper? That’s fantastic!
Also really cool you’ve gotten to meet the band in person. From the interview footage I’ve seen and seeing them on video I seem to get a vibe that they really do get on well with each other, not to mention play well together!
I know I’m wandering a bit off topic but Gibson guitars ... There’s a store (Legends), a bit of a distance from where I live but not too far from where I work that’s a licensed seller for Gibson ... something like that. The first time I went there it was to pick up, actually a brochure they had on Dean guitars because of some “pictures of interest” I heard were used in the brochure! I didn’t look around the store much because I didn’t want to be the guitar illiterate gawker that I am.
Fortunately, an Internet bud of mine who is learning to play guitar happened to go on holiday to Florida so we got together and one of the things we did was pay a visit to Legends. I still walked around the store checking out the Gibsons and the other kinds of guitars they sell (including custom and signature guitars, etc.) like an idiot gawker but it was a less embarrassing situation in a way since my knowledgeable friend was there chatting with the people running the store. It was really nice and interesting having an opportunity to see some of these guitars I know people in bands I like use and seen people in bands I like use, up close and personal!
HAAA!!! I just love the movie Wayne’s World but more for the “Bohemian Rhapsody” portion of the film! I know which scene you’re talking about, though, Lloydie.
