Nick or Sean?

Nick or Sean?

Which DH frontman do you prefer?

I've gone for Nick as I feel that he has really brought DH back to life again, and they are better than ever. IMO Sean ruined DH with a poor Death and Progress, Grim Reeper costumes and then the dreadful accustic EP!!!

Shocked Shocked Shocked Oooh!!! I know that’s a tempting topic of discussion but that’s precisely the sort of thing I’ve seen cause a lot of hard feelings and fights on other band boards - the old guy vs. the new or replacement guy, former band members, etc.

I don’t mind people discussing Sean and I don’t mind people discussing Nick but strictly IMO and from personal experience participating on and reading other boards, I don’t think Sean and Nick should be pit against each other in board discussions. That sort of thing takes an official board down a very bad road. Sad

As for private discussion or discussion on another board, that’s another thing. I’m asking, please let’s not do that here. Personally I feel that’s only common sense. Smile

Sorry, didn't mean to start a nasty Nick v Sean thing going like we have Cliff v Jason etc. Just thought it might be fun to discuss/interesting and see where fans lie.

If you feel this topic should be locked, I'm fine with that.

Just don’t take it personal and understand I’m making a statement on that whole sort of subject in general. As I said, I find that sort of discussion to be extremely negative and unproductive.

I’m still not gonna vote but I will go as far as to say to be honest my take on Nick is much more on the positive side of things and my opinion on Sean as a singer leans a little more on the negative side. I understand Sean’s place in the band history and his contributions and I think a lot of people know and appreciate that. At this point, on the official band board, my stand is if you can’t say anything nice about someone ...

Hmmm ... Cliff vs. Jason ... I actually ended up thinking about that one. Again, no way would I go to Metallica’s official board (if there is one) and get into that discussion. My gut reaction says Cliff totally rules mainly because I favor the older Metallica albums ... and Cliff certainly makes my list of favorite bass players. However, I find attempting to compare Cliff’s work with Metallica and Jason’s work with Metallica problematic because I get the impression Cliff had a lot of artistic freedom within the band and the guys were kind of in awe of him while Jason was allowed very little input at all and didn’t seem to get a whole lot of respect.

Nick Vs Sean?....

I fully agree with the whole "who is better than who" thing, I have seen this on the Megadeth boards and it always ends in tears!!!

However, I will say that I think Nick is absolutely unbelivable but I do think Sean has an unbelievable voice too.

Two peas from the same pod? No, but both great singers none the less Very Happy

I think you nailed it there, Lloyd!

I enjoy listening to recordings with both singers. I have to admit though, and this is personal preference and NOT a "vs." thing, I always found Sean a bit over the top for my taste in singers. I think Nick simply has a great voice and to me is more earthy and accessible. That's me saying a lot because I'm usually more into the guitar players than the singers so it takes a LOT for a singer or "front man" to really bowl me over. Sean was good for the band in their past and Nick is good for the band now.

Great comment

I must admit I think Nick is a great frontman. He has more presence on stage than santa has to give out to all the kids! (Gettit, presence...presents!) Laughing

anyway, like everything in life, the past was great but the future holds great things in store and with Nick I see the band continuing to grow and just by the new song titles (Reign supreme) they sound good already!!!!

what the heck is Sean up to now ? Has he "retired" ?

and I thought nick was a great singer since I heard him on the life cocoon cd and wasn'r surprised he joined DH when Sean left.

How could you ever compare them? They both have an awesome voice that brings a song together. To be honest, they were both suited to their era, and diamond head have adapted to suit.

Sean's voice was outstanding and so fresh at the time, and suited diamond head's playing style. Now, Nick brings a more raw and earthy edge to the band, that I was unsure of at first, but hearing the album over I see that it suits the new style perfectly.

Generally, everytime a band releases a new album now people expect it to be like their old songs, and become disappointed when it's not. Music becomes pretty boring if albums are in the same style.

It's good to see one band with two completely different edges.

Scriv, I do not think I could have put it better myself. Good on you brother and nice to have you here on the boards.

P.S. Are you evil!? Cool
