Glasgow Gig Tonight

Whose all going to see DH tonight at the Cathouse. Are you still going Weissheim and is there going to be any sort of meet-up before the concert. I'll be in the Solid Rock from about 6pm if anyone fancies meeting up for a few pregig drinkies.

BTW I'm Diamond Head Girl on here for a while ago but I had to pick another username as I forgot my password!!!!!

This will be my first time seeing Diamond Head for years - canny wait. Just trying to recover from last night's MINDBLOWING Rush concert.

See you all down the front then - I'll might even be wearing my new Diamond Head white tshirt Very Happy
Weissheim

Yes, I'll be there, although probably at the back seeing as I'm 6'7" and the Cathouse is a pretty small venue!

Really looking forward to this one. I missed the last Glasgow show as I was on holiday. Not seen them since the Megadeth tour. New album is great - hope they play a good selection from it.
Weissheim

Anyone know who the support band is?
Princess of theNight747

That's great Weissheim, I'll look out for you at the back as soon as I come in. I think I owe you a drink for that package you sent me!!!!

I'll be heading right down the front though cos I am just about 5 feet nothing, taking camera so should get plenty of pics.

I've no idea who the support band is. Do you know what time DH will be on at. I think its doors for 7pm but I'm going to go to the Solid Rock bar in Hope St for a few drinks first of all.

See you tonight - WOW CANNY WAIT Very Happy

excellent gig tonight, if u were anywhere near the stage i was one of the dudes to the right looking towards the stage, on tatler's side. had my ticket signed by everyone apart from the drummer.
went ballistic thought! fantastic show and such a great atmosphere

Great performance, but that PA at the Cathouse is woeful. I was stage right at the front for most of the night, but I found the PA so loud and distorted that I had to move back. The only place where I got a decent sound was at the back in the middle of the bar. This is not a criticism of DH, as I've found the same problem at other gigs at the Cathouse.

Abbz was missing (due to illness) so it was a four-piece Diamond Head in Glasgow. Niggles about the PA aside, it was a great show. I spoke to Brian before the show, and managed to mutter a few words [was a bit starstruck to be honest Smile].

PrincessOfTheNight747 got a mention from Nick (although he got her name slightly wrong!).

Setlist included Mine All Mine, Lighting To The Nations, Give It To Me, The Prince, Helpless, It's Electric, This Planet and Me, Skin On Skin, I Feel No Pain, Sucking My Love, To The Devil His Due, In The Heat Of The Night (including the instrumental bit from Ishmael tagged on at the end), Am I Evil, Wild On The Streets.

Guys - next time, please play King Tut's again. It's got much better acoustics and PA than the Cathouse.

Missed most of the first support band. Second support were Rollin' Thunder who were pretty impressive. Reminded me a bit of the Tygers Of Pan Tang. One to watch for the future.

Sounds like a good show, hope that Abbz is feeling better for the Colchester show next week. So, did Nick pick up the guitar or did they just play with Brian on lead?

It was just Brian. Nick mentioned that they'd changed the set a bit, although didn't say what they'd dropped.
Lloydie Lloyd

I like it that Wild on the Streets is still in there, love that tune!
Jack_still_fuckin_evil!

Sounds good, should be more new stuff in the set though... I get so fed up with that bloody Am I Evil Song! Shocked

Here's some photos I took last night.

Hi Garf - I was right at the front of the stage the whole night, standing right in front of Nick. I was the girl with the dark hair wearing a white strappy Diamond Head tshirt. You must have been very near me then, there was a girl standing right beside me with a guy - was that you?? - then there was the pillar and I saw a couple of quite young guys beside the pillar.

Wow what can I saw about the concert - OMG it was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. I loved every single minute of it. I've seen DH quite a few times, the very first time was in the Bungalow Bar in Paisley probably would have been in 1980 and that was my favourite concert of theirs. After that I saw them at the Penthouse in Glasgow, the Apollo and also in the Vic Carriage in Greenock. I would say Thursday night's performance was equally as good as the first time down in the Bungalow. It was mindblowing hearing all the early songs cos I wasn't expecting to hear quite so many. All the songs were stunning and I think Nick is a fabulous singer and give it 100%. Sucking My Love and Helpless were truly outstanding but of course Am I Evil sent the whole crowd into a frenzy. To the Devil His Due was awesome as well, wasn't expecting to hear that classic and totally loved This Planet and Me, and In The Heat of the Night.

It was just an absolutely stonking concert and the atmosphere there was indeed "electric". Only heard 2 songs from the first support band but that Rollin Thunder were really great - I'd definitely go and see them again when they come back to Glasgow.

And of course another highlight was when Nick asked where the Princess was. LOL I thought I was hearing things and was momentarily stunned into silence and then waved and shouted out something like "here I am right in front of you". And then some guy along from me said he was the Princess Laughing . Fantastic stuff.

Please please please come back to Glasgow really soon - even hook up with the mighty Saxon or even Blitzkrieg or the Tygers of Pan Tang - that would be MINDBLOWING!!!!!

I was hoping to hearing my alltime fav DH song - Sweet & Innocent or Shoot out the Lights - but maybe next time you could play those 2 superb songs for moi Very Happy

Just gonny sort of my pics and I'll post them in a few minutes.

Great pics Weissheim - here's a few that I took at the concert:-

Just click on them to make them bigger.

A few months ago I sent in a request to the Planet Rock Request Show for any Diamond Head song and they played me It's Electric - wooohooo fantastic. So I'm now going to email in and ask for Am I Evil to be played either on tomorrow's Request Show or next weekend's. They'll have to play that song after I tell them what a stunning performance Diamond Head put on at the Cathouse Very Happy

Great reviews guys and nice pictures. Sounds like a fantastic gig, I'm growing more and more impatient for the Colchester gig on Fri!

ehh...yeah Princess, the guy who yelled was my mate, he came with me and my brother, he was absolutely wasted! he hadnt listened to much DH before and he loved it, they gained a new fan!
i'm a bit young to have seen them back in the day, seeing as i'm a 1990 child, would give my right arm to see them with harris. tart's a bloody good replacement tho, he's got great stage presence and he was really down to earth after the show. dont think tatler liked me much tho, got a bit crazily star struck Embarassed karl wilcox was a great laugh though, good bass player too
Weissheim

I didn't see DH as early as Princess. My first show was the Borrowed Time tour at the Glasgow Apollo. I've since been at hundreds of gigs from loads of bands, but that Apollo performance still ranks in my top 5 gigs ever. Last Thursday's show was very good, possibly the 2nd best show I've seen from DH. Nick is indeed a great singer and an excellent front man. There's definitely a real vibe about the band now, which I hope they can capitalise on. I was a bit disappointed at the turn-out on Thursday though. DH went down really well on the Megadeth tour, and I would have thought they could have packed the Cathouse.

Thanks, Princess and Weissheim for sharing your reports and photos of this gig, and welcome back to the forum, Princess!

I still have this on my mind so I guess I'll share. On the same night (Oct. 4) I was at House of Blues in Orlando, Florida watching Megadeth (I still haven't gotten around to typing up my full report on that). I happened to look down at the audience in front of the stage from where I was standing up in the balcony and I swear I saw this guy who looked a lot like Nick!Laughing I'm thinking, ok, aside from the fact that this is Orlando, Florida, I have a feeling there's some logical reason why that is NOT Nick. Now I know why! So Nick, I guess you have a head banging doppelganger somewhere in central Florida! Wink
