Hey guys!
Right... its nearly 2'oclock in the morning of 30th July, the album is out today and before I go to bed I thought I'd set up a thread for people to post their opinions and reviews as and when they get their copies. I want first impressions, full reviews, basically anything you are feeling or thinking about this record! Tommorow I will be embarking on the good city of Leicester to try and find a copy somewhere (secretly hoping that I get one before Sleeper's pre-ordered copy comes in the post!!)
If you are waiting for a pre-ordered copy I hope that you recieve it today, and if like me you are going shopping for one, happy hunting!
Get those thoughts and reviews coming in guys!
All the Best
Jack

No reviews yet, I'd be surprised if anyone even has a bloody copy! Oh unless of course you're Irish! |

as John Quincy Adams once said:
"Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish".
It's only the first day anyway, I am sure the guys at Cargo are on the ball. In their defence, they are a great outfit. |

You've got that one right, Lloyd!
Diamond Head fans on this side of the pond need to posess LOTS of patience, for now. (Also a little creativity and kind friends in New York City )
Of course if I wasn't at work and eating my sandwich I would be jumping up and down and stomping my feet and screaming I WANT MY COPY OF WHAT'S IN YOUR HEAD? AND I WANT IT NOW!!! |

Picked up in Selectadisc in Nottingham, found it in a couple of indies elsewhere too.
First impression, interesting stuff. The already known tracks that were posted on myspace gives you a feel for the sound and the general direction. Its heavier, better produced and tighter. At this early stage 'Killing Me' is a stand out track for me, switching different tempo's and feels with great skill.
Couple of tracks with acoustic openings, the first 'Tonight' feels a little bit Led Zep to begin with before going off in a different direction. The other , 'Calling Out' is not typically DH, almost Manic Street Preachers in the intro, but has a great hook in the verse.
The title track starts with a big swaggering riff, again full of power, could become a favourite.
Tons of interesting instrumental breaks, retro guitars and killer drums. The good bit, you can tell its DH and I think it could well hit the spot. |

well the album finally arrived today, so i beat jack to it!
After my first initial listen i was impressed, but thought that it was no AWBR. However, on my way to the bank just no i had a listen whilst cycling through Victoria Park, and paid much closer attention to the music and lyrics (although maybe i should have been taking more heed over what was going on around me. i swear that old lady just jumped out of nowhere!).
Anyway, the new album is far better produced than the last, and Nick's vocals come across much clearer, which is great. It is also nice to see the band branch out in terms of the lyrical content on this album, which maybe due to inclusion of the rest of the band in the writing of the songs. The lyrics seem to over broader and deeper subjects with lots of topical issues thrown in rather than the last album than seemed to concentrate on the breakdown of a relationship.
It's a shame that the band havn't seemed to add many songs from this album into their live show, as i feel that this album has a greater universal appeal than the last, and the inclusion of dave nicholls has really paid off. After listening to it is seems odd that a major label didn't pick this one up, would have helped with the promotion i'm sure.
All in all a great album, i'm sure i'll add more thoughts after a few listen and disussions with fellow leicester dh fans. |

I've only given the album a couple of listens so far, but first impressions are very positive. The production is hugely improved from AWBR - all the instrumentation is very clear and the vocal sound is excellent.
It's a much more diverse album than AWBR too. Acoustic intros to a couple of songs and the riffs and song structure are well-thought out and keep the attention. Several of the songs could easily get some airplay (given the correct promotion) - Killing Me, Nothing To Lose, Calling Out.
The whole band sound great, but special mention must go to Nick and Brian. Nick sounds superb - really at home in the band now - and Brian unleashes some scorching and hugely memorable solos.
Well done guys. |

I was think that too. I thought that Reign Supreme would make a great single along with Killing Me. |
