I know a few of you on here were planning on going to see Saxon, so I just want to know what you all thought of it.
At first I was a little dissapointed as Saxon opened with a couple of their new tracks and the crowd didn't really seem to get fully into them, which is a shame as their new album is a great piece work. However, by the time that Motorcycle Man started the crowd were going mental, how Saxon gigs should be!
Great set all in all IMO, the band were really tight, and Biff was on-form as ever.
Was wel worth having to spend the night in London (yep, I missed my train yet again)!

Excellent - Saxon rarely dissappoint. I'll be seeing them on Sunday and look forward to hearing the new material. The last t our was just 80s stuff so i'd like to hear a few tracks off some of the more recent albums - especially Unleash The Beast. |

Well Saxon last Sunday were great. A nice long set with plenty of the new album being aired. A lot of the old classics were there too, and I had to think about which ones they didn't do.
I even got one song off Unleash the Beast - The Thin Red Line.
Its been a good week for gigs; Saxon, Magnum, Diamond head (Rushden - nice to see the 3 of you of the forum) and last night Oliver Dawson Saxon were playing at my local so i popped down there too.
Next week: Gary Moore & Diamond Head (Tamworth)
then a quieter June... (maybe) |

I don't know how I managed to miss this thread about Saxon. I was at the Glasgow concert and it was absolutely rockin from the word go. The new songs all sounded fantastic live and went down great with the crowd, especially Feel Your Power and Atila The Hun. Great to hear Witchfinder General, 20, 000 Feet, the Thin Red Line as well but the song of the night for me is always The Bands Played On - just totally stunning live.
There were quite a few fans from the Saxon fanclub up for the gig and we all got invited to the aftergig party which was held in a private room at the Garage. It was such a great laugh and got to meet the band (well all of them apart from Biff, he didn't show up!!). And the first thing Saxon's drummer Nigel Glocker said to me was "I know who you are, you're the Diamond Head fan" And there was a competition to see who had the best dressed denim jacket and it was me and this guy from London in the final and it was me who won !!!!! Obviously it was all the Diamond Head patches on my jacket which swung it for me!!!! I might post the pics later.
